PURITO SEOUL Mighty Bamboo Panthenol Cleanser is a low pH gel wash that leaves skin comfortable rather than squeaky. That distinction matters more than it sounds: the tight feeling after a harsh cleanser is barrier damage happening twice a day, and no serum can outrun it.

Coco-betaine and sodium lauroyl methyl isethionate replace sulfates as the cleansing agents, with panthenol at 3,000ppm, allantoin and Damyang bamboo extract restoring moisture as you rinse. The updated version of the Defence Barrier pH Cleanser. Note that despite the fragrance-free claim, the ingredient list includes tea tree leaf oil.

1 Squeeze a small amount into wet palms and lather.

3 Rinse with lukewarm water.
4 Use morning and night.
5 At night, use it after an oil cleanser or balm if you wore sunscreen or makeup.
6 Follow with toner and moisturizer while skin is still damp.

Before you buy

It says fragrance-free, so why do you tag it with tea tree oil?

Because the ingredient list contains Melaleuca Alternifolia leaf oil. No synthetic perfume is added, which is what the claim means, but tea tree is an essential oil and some people react to it. We would rather you know.

Is this the old Defence Barrier pH Cleanser?

It is the updated version, with bamboo extract added and panthenol raised to 3,000ppm.

Can I use it as my only cleanser at night?

If you wore no sunscreen or makeup, yes. Otherwise double cleanse, since a low pH gel will not remove a water-resistant SPF on its own.

How is it different from the COSRX Low pH cleanser?

Both are low pH gels. COSRX leans slightly more towards oily and congested skin with its betaine salicylate. This one leans towards barrier repair with the panthenol and allantoin.
